The Be@CyberPro project consortium is excited to share the news that since the beginning of the year, our partner the Cork Institute of Technology, has become the Munster Technological University (MTU)!
MTU was officially established on 1st January 2021 and is Ireland’s newest technological university. The new university has been formed following the merger of Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT).
MTU is a multi-campus technological university, contributing to the region through the provision of academic programmes that support student development and opportunities, education and research. MTU has an extensive and impressive regional footprint with six campuses across the South‑West region in Cork and Kerry and a student body of 18,000. For Cork, it is the first university to be established since UCC in 1845. MTU is the first university to be established in Kerry.
Within the Be@CyberPro Consortium, MTU has been the main driving force of our educational game’s development, designing an interactive browser-enabled digital game, to enable students from various contexts and with different equipment to be able to play. The gameplay is designed to span between 40 minutes and 1 hour – the duration of a regular school class. The game follows a role-playing game style, where players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. The main protagonist, a high school girl, sets out to solve a variety of cybersecurity-related challenges, related to different cybersecurity career profiles, to help her friends and schoolmates with different problems and situations.
